I have one tattoo, which I love. I need to get a good picture of it because the one I have is all glare. The tattoo is of a lantern above a reflecting pool. The easy way to explain the meaning is to quote Edith Wharton -- "There are two ways to spread the light, to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it." I had come up with the idea of mirror and lamp to represent my spiritual "job" if you will and then my husband found that quote. So the lantern is indeed that candle and the reflecting pool the mirror. The only thing is that the two parts of the tattoo can be seen as separate when they really aren't, so I wanted some way to bring them together. My husband suggested an archway with the Elder Futhark, with a pentacle in the capstone. I love this idea for many reasons. I also love having a Pagan tattoo artist who gets it when I say things like "I need the elemental colors in there somewhere." Well, I just scheduled to get the rune arch toward the end of March. Can't wait! *jumps up and down in chair*
Hello from the Underworld
Well, I decided to join up here at Covenspace (and at Pagan Space as well), even though I don't even keep up my Live Journal that much. So in other words, no great promises of massive content here. But I figured I'd introduce myself a bit. Factoid stuff: I'm married, my husband and I have one dog. Until earlier this week it was two dogs, but our sweet girl Kinsey had a really nasty form of cancer. It has been a rough couple of months and now I'm trying to come out from under. More factoid: I'm a software developer, I just turned 50, yadda yadda.
And why Covenspace, etc.? I'm the High Priestess of a small Eclectic Wiccan group (http://www.silverphoenixcircle.org). I've been Pagan for about 12 years, Wiccan for 11. I read a lot, lately a few historical biographies (John Dee, Paracelsus) and some stuff on Taoism, plus various fantasy/sci fi novels, as time permits. I'm also a member of the Autonomatrix (http://www.autonomatrix.org), which is a chaos magic group (and if that just made you feel all wonky, you don't actually know what chao magic is -- ask me).
So much for the intro. Stop by, say hi.
